Frequently Asked Questions

Q. Are you accepting new patients?

A.  Yes, we are currently accepting new patients.

Q.  I’ve never been to your office but I’m having pain, do you take emergencies?

A.  Yes, we do take a limited number of emergency patients. If you have an emergency, please call to schedule an emergency visit. We will try to see you right away but priority is given to existing patients so there may be a wait.

Q. What will my first visit be like?

A. When you come in for your first appointment, you will fill out paperwork so we can get to know you better. If you would like to fill out your paperwork ahead of time you can find it out here. Next you will meet with Dr. Otero for a review of your paperwork and to discuss any concerns or questions you may have. Typically, new patients then see one of our hygienists for xrays and to have your teeth cleaned. An examination is then completed by the dentist. You will receive a treatment plan for any dental treatment you may need or want. You will check out with the receptionist and make your next appointment. If you are visiting for an emergency or a consultation, you will first meet with Dr. Otero and then a dental assistant will bring you to a exam room for xrays and an examination as needed.

Q.  Do you do general dentistry like cleanings and fillings or just cosmetic dentistry?

A.  We are excited to offer our patients general, family, cosmetic and implant dentistry right here in our office so there is very rarely a need for referrals anywhere else. To accomplish this, Dr. Otero and his staff attend extensive continued education classes yearly pursuing excellence in all aspects of dentistry. This has allowed us to be “one of the most comprehensive dental offices in the nation” according to Incisal Edge Magazine.

Q. Can you give me a rough idea of pricing over the phone?

A. We generally do not give pricing over the phone because prices can vary a great deal depending on the circumstances. We can give a general range of prices for basic services such as cleanings and fillings. In the case of more extensive treatment pricing, please call us to schedule a free consultation. Taking a look at your teeth and mouth will allow us to give you accurate pricing and treatment options.

Q. I don’t have any teeth of my own, am I a candidate for implants or snap-on dentures?

A. There are many treatment options available for patients missing teeth. Fortunately, with recent advances, most patients who want dental implants are candidates. Patients are often surprised how easy and painless dental implants are and that they can often be done in one day! Please call us to schedule a free consultation and we can go over your customized treatment options with you.

Q. If I have my tooth taken out, will it be replaced on the same day or do I have to go without it?

A. In most cases we are able to replace the tooth the same day with a dental implant. We have done this many times with great success. This is also true with multiple teeth replacement. There are rare occasions where healing time is necessary before the tooth can be replaced. We usually know this ahead of time and will discuss options with you when we do your exam prior to treatment.

Q. Do you take insurance?

A. We do take and file insurance claims for our patients. We verify insurance and request an estimate of benefits prior to your appointments. We do this as a courtesy for our patients and we convey the information directly from your insurance company to you. Treatment costs are ultimately the patients responsibility but in this case, we will work with you and your insurance company to appeal the decision.  Although we do take insurance and file insurance, we are a not considered an in network provider for some insurances.  Please feel free to call us with specific questions.

Q. Do you offer financing?

A. We do offer financing through Care Credit. Care Credit is similar to a credit card but it is only for healthcare charges. The application is very simple and can be found online. You can apply on your own or we will be happy to help you with the application here at the office. You will often have an answer right away so it allows for same day treatment with many options for payback including some interest free options.

Q. Do you offer orthodontics like braces and retainers?

A. We offer Invisalign here in our office. Invisalign treatment consists of a series of clear aligners to straighten teeth. It is very effective, easy to clean and is nearly invisible! We have many teens as well as adult patients who have done Invisalign treatment and love the look and convenience of it. We do not do traditional braces here so if they are needed, we will refer you to an orthodontist. We also make retainers and guards of various types including Invisalign retainers and nightguards for clenching and grinding.

Q. When should I have my child’s teeth checked for the first time?

A. The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends children to have their first dental visit by the time they turn one year old. We make their first visit fun by letting them sit and play in the chair or sometimes even on a parents lap while we will show them some of our tools and polish their teeth. Then, the dentist will take a look at their teeth and discuss proper care of their teeth and mouth.

Q. Do you offer sedation?

A. We go above and beyond to make sure your visit with us is as enjoyable and relaxing as possible. Patients often compare our office with a spa due to the sound of the waterfall, comforting smells, soft music, and warm lavender towels. Television is available in all treatment rooms and can serve as a welcomed distraction. We are aware though that these things may not be enough for some very nervous patients or some long procedures, therefore, we do offer sedation. We will be happy to discuss sedation options with you at your first appointment.
